Schedule an email to send at a specific time

Updated over a week ago

With Alura, it's easy to schedule an email to send at exactly the right time. There are three ways you can do this in Email Sender:

  • Schedule an email to send at a specific time

  • Send email based on customer behavior

  • Set a recurring email at a fixed interval

Schedule an email to send at a specific time

To use this option, go to Campaign > New Campaign > Regular email. Then on the "Send settings" you can choose between either "Send now" or "Schedule later":

From "Schedule later" you can pick a specific date and time for your email to be sent.

Note:

  • The time and date you set will be your timezone, not your customer's timezone. For example, imagine your app is set to Pacific time and your customer's timezone is New Zealand. In this case, when you schedule a message to send at 9 am on Wednesday, it will send to your customer at 2 pm on Tuesday.

  • If you choose to "Send now", you'll still need to save and then click "Send now" before it is sent.

Send email based on customer behavior

With Alura, it's easy to send emails at the right time based on what your customers do. When creating an Automated campaign, you will see the option to schedule based on an event:

If you select one of these events, the email will be sent to the subscriber when they match that event. For instance, if you want to thank customers for a "Positive review", you can select the "Based on an event > Leaves a positive review > Send delay = 30 minutes". The Send delay makes it feel more personal instead of the email being sent a minute after they posted the review.

Set a recurring email at a fixed interval

When creating an Automated campaign, you will see the option to schedule on a fixed schedule:

These emails are great for creating monthly automated newsletters. If you combine them with the "Product" section, you can send an email once a month showing of your newest or trending products.
